If a new bottle of e-liquid tastes a little flat or harsh straight out of the box, that is normal. Steeping — letting the liquid rest — allows the flavouring and base to fully combine.
What Actually Happens
Over days or weeks, some of the sharper alcohol-based notes in the flavouring mellow out, and the flavour profile becomes rounder and more consistent.
How to Steep at Home
Keep the bottle capped, store it somewhere cool and dark, and give it a gentle shake every day or two. Most e-liquids taste noticeably better after one to two weeks.
Not every flavour needs it — simple menthols and fruits are often fine immediately — but dessert and tobacco blends usually benefit the most.
